I came to post this in the makeup thread and realized there wasn’t one here. I’ll start it. After being a Clinique moisturizer person for eons, I have defected to Neutrogena. I love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. It’s just like Clinique Moisture Surge except cheaper and blue. The thing I love about it is it disappears into your skin without a trace, except for your very soft and moisturized face. It doesn’t leave a sticky residue. It doesn’t pill or flake or do anything weird under makeup. Plus, there’s a sunscreen version for daytime. Neutrogena SPF 30 Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion. Same deal, very moisturizing, behaves with makeup, doesn’t leave me white and shiny, or settle into lines. I use the sunscreen in the morning and the regular one at night. LOVE! Anyone else find any great products lately?
Do we have a thread like this already? I couldn't find one when I searched. Anywho, I found this beauty while perusing Instagram. Evelyn Tribole is on IG now and her posts are amazing! evelyntribole It’s so exciting to see research continue to emerge about the various benefits associated with Intuitive Eating! There are over 90 studies to date, and I’m excited to share the results of a new study (citation at end). New Zealand researchers Carraca, Leong, & Horwath compared Intuitive Eating assessment scores in 1,435 women who were extrinsically motivated to exercise for weight control purposes, compared to intrinsically motivated women who exercised for non-weight-related reasons (think enjoyment, strength, mood, stamina etc.) The weight-focused group had an eating style that was less intuitive, with a lower reliance on hunger and satiety & likely more dependent on diet rules. They were also more likely to engage in emotional rather than physically driven eating. Notably, the women who exercised for non-weight related reasons were more connected to their bodies and had higher Intuitive Eating assessment scores. This study is consistent with a body of research, which shows that extrinsic motivation (such as goals based on appearance) tend to be associated with worse outcomes. For example, studies have shown an increased association between disordered eating and a focus on weight loss. (I have seen this connection, over and over again with my patients). The results from this study underscore the benefits of Intuitive Eating, which is a process based on your body autonomy. One of the keys is to look at the motivation behind your behaviors. I want to hear from you! How might the results of this study relate to your own life? Think about your intrinsic motivations for exercise (consider reasons like functionality—such as improved energy, mood, strength, fun, and stamina). For those of you who have already mastered this—what helped you let go of focusing on exercise for weight control and body appearance? Your real life experiences are so powerful and inspiring to others, please do share in the comments. Citation: Eliana V Carraça et al.
