All-or-nothing thinking says that either I totally wing it and I'm normal or I plan something and I'm disordered. There is a really vast middle ground! :-) If you want to eat meals you truly enjoy, it's necessary to plan at least to the extent of buying the food and deciding how and when to prepare it. What feels overwhelming is the idea that you need to change everything starting tomorrow. You never need to do that! You never need a total overhaul of the way you eat. If you're dissatisfied with your meals, plan to replace one or two of them with something you would look forward to eating. See how it goes. Maybe you find new favorites that you can begin to include more often. Repeat the process whenever you feel like it. Eventually, you've rotated in quite a few new favorites and are enjoying your meals more. No pressure or massive overnight change.
I consider myself a pretty normal and happy-go-lucky eater, but I still need a loose plan of what I might want to eat on which day, otherwise, how does the food get to my house and get prepared?
