From skwigg's journal:
Someone casually mentioned the 80/20 eating thing, as in, eat nutritious whole foods 80 percent of the time and whatever you want 20 percent of the time. Even though I sort of do that (eating plenty of nutritious whole foods), I absolutely can't think of it that way. My mindset is that I eat whatever I want 100 percent of the time. I want plenty of nutritious whole foods because they're yummy and healthy and further my lazy leanness agenda, but I can also eat chips or chocolate whenever. That's what keeps me casual about it. It's kind of like the 80 percent full thing. I can't deal with that either. I eat until 100 percent satisfied. I find that mindset much more effective. If I believe I should be stopping short of satisfaction, that thought will cause me to overeat.
