When you put numbers too it, it will always seem like "too much" for those of us who have restricted. Yet "too much" is what produces the lean body, happy hormones, stable moods, good energy, and quality sleep. Maybe it seems counterintuitive to eat plenty of food intentionally, but over time it's actually less food than the cycle restricting and then rebound eating. Plus, the predictable nature of it keeps keeps your body functioning optimally instead of having compromised digestion, wonky hormones, and "gasping for food" episodes. Looking at it in that big picture way, you can see how trusting your appetite has positive outcomes where restriction did not.
