From skwigg's journal:
I used to have a pattern of being very strict all week and really just not caring on the weekends. Lots of bites, lots of mindlessness, big portions, opportunistic. The problem with that is you have to be SO strict to make up for overindulging that the rest of the week really sucks. Then because the rest of the week really sucks, you feel like you've earned something when the weekend rolls around. So you overindulge again, so you have to crack down again, and you basically just stay stuck like that.
I'm all for eating fun things on weekends, but it's the difference between mindfully choosing and "now's my chance-ing." Now, I eat when I'm hungry on weekends. I used to eat preemptively, ok, well, continuously. Because I wasn't hungry when I started eating, it would become very muddled on when to stop. If I eat satisfying meals when hungry, no matter what day it is, things are a lot more sane.
