Okay, I rejoined the ZGYM! I noticed that, very gradually over the last half a year, my tendency to wake up early in the morning just to do nothing other than lie on the couch and chill was changing into shorter and shorter lie-in periods and more desire to do something. I know I won’t have the opportunity to do a workout every morning, which is really, REALLY difficult for me, not because I’m upset about missing a workout given that I’ve done nothing for like a year and a half now, but just since I crave to do the same thing every day and don’t like when my plans are interrupted... But I’m going to try to fight that. It’s good to be back!
Anyway, I did Kettkebell Fit Slide #14 today from the easy schedule with a 14 kg. My arms didn’t hold up for the last set of sit-up presses, but I had no problems otherwise. Pretty good for such a long break! Favorite-d that workout too.
Very cool!! I'm glad you're back. I'm sure you'll be able to fit in some fun workouts that match your time and energy, even if it doesn't happen every day like clockwork.
I did Bodyweight Beginners #12 this morning. Sometimes I un-beginner the beginner workouts to make them more challenging, but on days like today where I need an easy/recovery workout, I just chill out, go at the slower pace, do the push-ups from my knees. It's fun!
As I'm going through my old journal, I hit the part where I discovered ZGYM in 2014 and I could not shut up about it! LOL Every day I explained every workout and what I thought about it. I'm glad we have a dedicated thread now where we can all compare notes, but it's funny to see how excited I was (and still am) about the whole concept.
I loved the new Jump Rope Kettlebell Cardio #10 X too @Tonya! One giant round with no repeats is my favorite format, something new every time we switch.
I will say that the one thing that annoys me about wearing a Fitbit is having to get it off my wrist for kettlebell cleans and snatches. I switched it back and forth between wrists on several one-side-at-a-time exercises, but for the snatch / squat combo that alternated arms each time, I just tore it off and dropped it on the mat, where the flashing heart rate sensors caught Cooper's attention. LOL I managed to grab it before he ate it.
Yesterday, I jumped ahead in the schedule and did Heartbreaker Body #6. I've done it at least twice before, but I'd forgotten how killer the side plank move is!
I just finished the new JRC KB #10 X. I loved everything about it! It's one giant round and a buy out—no repetition(beyond jumping rope)! 🙌💗🙌
I did 12 Minute Body #16 from the intermediate schedule. When I'm looking at the three levels for any day, I'll almost always choose the workout I've previously marked as a favorite, whatever level it is. Today, the advanced one had ladders, which instantly repel me, and the intermediate one had ab splitters and flying scorpio push-ups, which made me squeal and clap. LOL Plus, it's the one where Zuzka forgets an entire set of one leg surrender jump squats in the second round, which was fine by me.
Have you guys seen and talk about a ZGym Cyber Monday deal? Last year she did a "One Month Free" thing. I'm kind of hoping she does the same again this year.
I did Beginner Kettlebell #3 today. It has super high-rep sets (20-40). Zuzka did it with a 26lb bell. I kind of mixed it up on the three different rounds. Sometimes I used a heavier bell for fewer reps, sometimes I kept pace with Zuzka, and sometimes I did a more difficult variation, like alternating one-arm swings instead of regular swings. That kept it interesting so I didn't glaze over at the reps and rounds. I learned you don't do fast feet (tapping a kettlebell quickly with your toes) barefoot! I fast-feeted the kettlebell's shadow for safety purposes. It was a fun workout. I love that her little dog Smallz is in it.
I just finished that one, too, [@skwigg]! I know I did it back when it first came out, but I don't remember much about how I felt about it. I definitely enjoyed it this time, though. The back-to-back wall sits at the end were killer.
I did 15 Minute Fat Burn #16 today. I remember being disappointed with it the first time I did it because there wasn’t enough jumping around like a rabbit. Today, I really liked the strength and isometric holds mixed in with the jumping and kicking.
Yesterday, I did Power Yoga #15.
Today, I did the new KB Fit Slide for Beginners. I used my 8kg bell (which is about the size Z used, I think). I added pushups to the plank jack slides. I also did more reps of some of the moves as I was able to move more quickly. It was fun!
I took yesterday off to eat gravy. Today I did 5 Minute #72 which is bodyweight cardio (Tabata intervals). It was fun, nothing fancy. Half burpees, mountain climbers, side jump lunges, abs and such.
I took a page from your book [@skwigg], and did Heartbreaker Body #5 yesterday. I love that series! I was going to do the new KB Fit Slide, but I didn't have enough time. I will probably do it in a few days. 😊
Today will likely be stretching of some sort.
I just finished Heartbreaker Body #5 from Friday's intermediate schedule. I love that one! Though, I do a traditional squat/press instead of pressing at the bottom of the squat, which feels biomechanically hinky to me. The power band moves were all awesome. I loved the side crunch inner / thigh lift.
I was wondering if you were going to even do it [@skwigg] because I know how you feel about over the box jumps!
Today, I did Kettlebell #3. It's written as two rounds, but I did one plus a final set of KB swings. I used my 16kg bell on the swings and my 12kg on everything else. I finished up with Power Yoga #32 as my cool down and stretching. I enjoyed all of it!
@Tonya I looked at the breakdown of Killer Legs #13, specifically the Side Step Hop Squat Cross Jump, and thought, "Hahaha! No!!" I know from past experience that I can't always tell from the breakdown if I'll like something, so I went ahead and tried it. That hoppy jumpy power band sequence burned but I didn't love it. I despise Over the Box Jumps. I actually really liked the One Leg Squats on a Chair. It's a pistol without having to pull the non-working leg up so high. Makes it a lot easier. The Squat Abduction Press and Step Up Switch were pretty fun. Anyway, like you, I did one round and thought that was plenty.
I did that Inferno workout yesterday, too, [@skwigg]. I even had time for all of the stretching! It was great!
Today, I did one round of the new Killer Legs #13. It was okay, but I wasn't loving it. I stopped after one round and then did 5 Minute Fat Burning Workout #76 - Abs. That's a tried and true favorite for me. My core was on fire! I finished up with handstands and stretching.
Great googly moogly! I just finished Upper Body & Abs Inferno #2 and I feel like I'm actually on fire. 🔥 I've done this one several times before but it really clobbered me today. The pull-up / dynamic push-up combo was super intense, and then the abs, OMG . Hanging abs, slider abs, kettlebell abs, stability ball abs. I'm sure it's going to hurt to laugh later, in a good way.
Great to see you back here, [@firmchica]!
I took a rest day yesterday, and then today I did JRC KB #4. It is a twelve-minute AMRAP, but I went a little longer to finish two rounds. I love that series!

She did have a ZGYM coupon in the newsletter to get your first month for $1. The code was “Zuzkasnewsletter” but I think it has expired already.

I was in the mood for something mellow with tiny dumbbells. I did Bunny Slope #2. It's high-rep, light-weight, strength only, no jumping. Very nice!
