In times of dire mortification, laughter is often the very best response. I still remember that woman on a fitness forum who had taken some naked before photos for her own fitness quest, gone to sleep, and then her phone auto-synced her camera roll to Google+ and sent her naked self to all of her friends, family, neighbors, and work colleagues. OMG! How do you recover from something like that? You have to laugh. Her worst moment of embarrassment, and yet telling the story, she had people crying they were laughing so hard. My face hurt when I was done with that post and the comments. Far from being shamed or shunned, people loved her! Nothing but sympathy, hilarity, and connection. People get it. If anything they're looking to you for cues on how to react. You cant go wrong with with grace and humor.
