Just read this in an article about walking for fitness: "A basic program performed consistently- even a half-asses effort done consistently- can bring you a really long way." I have found this to be true. I have been working at home since the pandemic, and all I've been doing is walking, yoga, a few 5-10 min. weights workouts from YouTube when the mood strikes, and online dance class 2x/week on average. This is definitely half-assed, and really varies. I do what I feel like that day, and sometimes, it's like 5 min. or formal exercise, or nothing. I don't know if anyone remembers this, but I posted probably a year so back having a big debate over whether snacks were good, and whether yoga and walking only were "enough." A few years ago, I could *barely* do 1 real pushup. I forced myself to do the Zgym Bunny Slope for awhile (which I didn't like at all), and I could struggle through 4 at the end of it. I felt ridiculous thinking that those workouts were hard, since Zuzka was always emphasizing how easy they were! Then I quit Zgym and never did it again, haha. Half-assing has been amazing. The other day, on a whim, I decided to see if I could still do pushups, and I shocked myself by cranking out 20!! I think it's from pushing myself up all the time in yoga. Yoga varies from 5-maybe 40 min., but I do it every day because I like it. Walking varies from maybe 15-45 min./day depending how much time I have, because I like going outside. The other stuff is randomly sprinkled in and I never do anything I hate. Half-assing FTW!
