Where does Ripley live now? In my mind. Where did she live before she died? Same place.
When you're not physically with someone, they live in your mind. Maybe it's a loved one on the other side of the country, or your kids when you're at work, or your husband in another room. They're alive and well and fine in your heart and mind, even if you're not physically in the same space at all times. One of you being dead doesn't really change the logistics of it.
